Hello world! I know it’s been complete radio silence from me, and I’m embarrassed to say I have not kept up with the blog in a long time. But I have a good excuse. We bought a house and moved! I have a separate post lined up on this big milestone of ours, so please stay tuned! Anyway, it’s been super hectic, moving and getting settled into our new house. On top of that, I had to travel for work – first travel since giving birth! This will also be a separate post. I tell ya, I have all these posts lined up, I just need to polish them and post. 😉 So you see? It’s been quite busy in our household!
Alright, so onto our 9 months postpartum update (I had already written this when she was actually 9 months old, so the timing is kind of off) –
Oh my goodness, is she really turning one in three months? Cue the anxiety overload of planning her first birthday/돌. 😛 Weighing in at 20 lbs at her nine months checkup, she is 27.5 inches tall with her head circumference still at 94th percentile. Now at nine and a half months old, she is a little firecracker! Miss wannabe independent is on the go! She can’t yet walk unsupported, but she can stand for several seconds on her own AND get this, SHE TOOK THREE STEPS on July 19! (Video here). We were all in awe. All this little pumpkin wants to do is walk around the entire house. She still isn’t a fan of tummy time so she is late to the crawling game. She isn’t quite crawling on her hands and knees yet. She gets her little tooshy up in the air and gets on her knees; however, she has not mastered the coordination of moving forward. She does army crawl, but of course, gets super frustrated because she’d rather walk. She is a curious cookie too, she likes to open up all of the cabinets she can get her little hands on. We need to baby-proof our house pronto!
She now has three teeth! The bottom two which sprouted when she turned 6 months old, has a little neighbor 🙂 The third bottom tooth (left of her front two teeth) has sprouted at 9 months but is not yet fully out. The third tooth took a lot longer to poke through her gum than the first two. Thankfully, she didn’t teethe as bad as when her first two bottom teeth sprouted, but she was a bit cranky for a day when her third tooth was starting to erupt. Her top two teeth are still MIA.
I think the most exciting thing about Em at this age is that she is so animated now! And she is starting to pick up everything and learn what certain gestures mean. She gives kisses whenever we say kiss, “bbo bbo”/”뽀뽀” in Korean; waves bye and hi; gives high five; claps; dances to music and says “mama/umma/dada/appa (Korean for dad)”! And let me say it for the record, her first word was “umma”/”엄마” which is mom in Korean. It is beautifully captured here in this video. 🙂 There’s never a dull moment with her, she is always doing something new trying to explore everything in her line of sight!
As for me, not much has changed since the 6 months postpartum update. Maybe at my next postpartum update, I have something exciting about myself to talk about… Whatever that may be. So until then.. ta-ta~
