I know it’s already the start of a new weekend, but this week went by so fast! I didn’t get to upload this blog post until now. Better late than never right? 😛
This past weekend was jammed packed for us with my dear friends, MV and Kat visiting from Washington D.C., and a quick meet up with a couple of my sorority sisters, Sandy and Sarah from my chapter. We haven’t had visitors since Steve’s parents came when we first moved to NC, so it was nice seeing my friends and showing them around our hood. 😉
We explored downtown Durham, went on a 5 mile hike at the Eno State Park, had a girls night out to the movies and sushi (yes, mine was cooked), and ate a lot of really good food including NC BBQ at the Original Q Shack.
It’s always fun hosting people. Not only do we get to spend some quality time with them, but Steve and I also get to try different restaurants and explore the city as well. Although the weekend went by super fast, I’m so glad to have spent time with my girlfriends. Props to us for making the plan and following through! Y’all promised another visit after Emma is born, this time with more people, so I’m going to hold you to it!
After MV and Kat left (sad face), Steve and I went to the Downtown Raleigh Food Truck Rodeo. I’ve heard of food truck scene being strong in the triangle area, but I had no idea how huge these food truck festivals are! There were 50+ food trucks, and I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn’t all that crowded! We met up with a couple of my sorority sisters who were in town from Chicago for a sisterhood event at UNC. It was nice seeing them and catching up a bit on the current news about my chapter. It made me miss my active days. 🙂
All in all, we had a lot of fun this past weekend. It’s been the two of us since we moved to NC, and although I love spending quality time just with my husband, being surrounded by friends was refreshing. I’m also trying to squeeze in as much face time as possible with friends and family before Emma comes. Steve’s siblings are visiting at the end of this month and my parents are visiting for Labor Day weekend, so we have a good amount of packed weekends ahead of us. Super excited to spend time with loved ones right before Emma arrives! For now, enjoy some pictures from the weekend (sorry most pictures are crappy cell phone quality).
